Switzerland: Takasa

With 37.54% of the votes, Takasa (formerly Helisarmee) won the Swiss their national selection. Since then the band, made up of six Salvation Army soldiers, were told to change their uniforms and band name due to the ban on political content in the contest. Meanwhile, on electric guitar and double bass at 94 years old, Emil Ramsauer has overtaken Engelbert Humperdinck as the oldest ever Eurovision contestant. There’ll be high hopes for You and Me to make the great escape from a twenty-year post-Dion Eurovision trainwreck.

This is what Eurovision is all about, in my opinion. Age-spanning costume-coordination whilst playing a range of instruments and a rousing chorus. There is simply no description more fitting than ‘perfection’.
