United Kindgom: Joe & Jake

United Kingdom Joe & Jake

Having the won the UK’s first national selection since 2010, Joe and Jake are our greatest hope since… Katrina and the Waves? The pair both competed in last year’s season of The Voice, and signed a deal with Sony after winning the You Decide contest (the best of the bunch by far). They’re male, play the guitar, are singing something along the lines of pop-rock and keep it extremely simple in stage – factors all very much in their favour amid the majority of power pop female soloists who will compete in the final.

The UK is guaranteed a place in the final as one of the Big Five, but there’s no doubting Joe and Jake would have sailed through the semi-finals if they had to. If we don’t make it to the top ten (or even the top five) this year, a feat that we haven’t managed since 2009 or 2002 before that, the only possible explanation will be that the voting was rigged.

Hello Europe, it’s Camilla calling! Here are the points from the House of Apcar vote.

United Kingdom: 12 points

According to my own personal preference, I have awarded points to all 43 acts entering this year’s contest using the EBU’s scoring system (12, 10 and 8-1 points).
