Denmark: Lighthouse X

Denmark Lighthouse X

An attractive male trio singing in perfect harmony about love, in beautifully coordinated outfits is a tried-and-tested dead cert in the international pop charts – never mind Eurovision. It worked a treat for Italy’s Il Volo last year, who were hotly tipped and finished in third place. Not to mention Denmark has secured itself in a minority this year: one of very few groups, and the only boy band. And, I’ve found, Soldiers of Love is one of the few songs where the lyrics stick and come back to haunt during moments otherwise devoted to sleep or boredom. Oh, and they’re big on social responsibility: each is an ambassador for a non-profit, and the three organisations receive a percentage of the band’s profits.

Basically Lighthouse X just need to show up. But if the crown is kept in Denmark for yet another year, you can bet I’ll be spearheading a boycott of 2017’s contest.

Hello Europe, it’s Camilla calling! Here are the points from the House of Apcar vote.

Denmark: 10 points

According to my own personal preference, I have awarded points to all 43 acts entering this year’s contest using the EBU’s scoring system (12, 10 and 8-1 points).
