Belarus: Ivan

Belarus Ivan

Belarus’ own native wolf, Ivan, is quite the artiste. With his already off-piste, sometimes off-key yet nevertheless catchy song, he’s since been seen rehearsing with real wolves… naked.

Whether he smuggles either his bare body or his carnivorous friends onto the final stage (family show; against the official rules), or whether it’s all an attention-grabbing stunt remains to be seen – a good reason to tune in, either way.

All Kinds of Everything: interview with Ivan

Babushki4 vs. Lordi4

I can’t rip between my producer’s song (the Babushki) and cool Finnish guys!

ABBA4 vs. Eurovision Song Contest 2014

My parents sometimes played them on cassette in the car when I was a child.

What does the Belarusian public think of Eurovision?

This is really serious show! A lot of people in my country watch it every year and they like it really!

Do you have any rituals before going on stage?

No. But I have a coin that my brother gave to me. It’s a historical coin from the time of Alexander the Great. I hope that it brings me luck.

Who is your favourite Eurovision act of all time?

I remember the band from Turkey called Manga. I like guitar music, rock music and they sounded just like that.

How do you normally watch the Eurovision Song Contest?

When I was a child I used to watch Eurovision with my family. We cheered on the Belarus representatives of course! Last year I saw Eurovision in Moscow. Måns and Polina Gagarina were good.

Hello Europe, it’s Camilla calling! Here are the points from the House of Apcar vote.

Belarus: 6 points

According to my own personal preference, I have awarded points to all 43 acts entering this year’s contest using the EBU’s scoring system (12, 10 and 8-1 points).
