Cyprus: Despina Olympiou

Cyprus

Cypriot sensation Despina Olympiou will be performing the love song An Me Thimase (If You Remember Me) in Greek for Cyprus this year. She’s released six albums to date and has always stuck to singing in Greek: here’s hoping Cyprus make it into the top four for the first time since entering the contest in 1981.

Undoubtedly a beautifully shot video with all manner of landscape to marvel at, but how will An Me Thimáse translate to the final without being as boring as it was when she won the Cypriot national selection? As one of the slowest ballad’s in the competition, the beautiful Despina’s screeches towards the end are grating, however much her heart is reeling (lyrics courtesy of the EBU in the next tab).

If You Remember Me

For all I have lived, I never have regrets
For all I loved, I seek no pardon
For all I want, I make my soul take off
And for all you’ve given me, I thank you

If you remember me,
Tell me if I will see you again
I wait for you
I will always be there for you

For all that united two hearts in one
For all we felt together, I miss you
And I will be there for your hardest goodbye
For the sweetest “I love you” you’ve ever said

If you remember me
Tell me if I will see you again
I wait for you
I will always be there for you

If you remember me
Become a bright star
As the night falls, for me to look at you in the sky
